Keller Williams Realty Launches Company-Wide
Community Service Day
73,000 agents gear up to give back to their communities on May 14
 
AUSTIN, TEXAS (May 12, 2009) —Committed to setting a new standard in business citizenship and community outreach, Keller Williams Realty, Inc. announced today its first annual RED Day will take place on May 14, 2009. RED Day, which stands for Renew, Energize and Donate, is a community service initiative engaging the company’s associates in giving back to the communities they serve across the United States and Canada.
 
“Given the current economic climate, we know there are countless non-profits or community projects that are in need of resources and volunteers. We see this as an opportunity to give back to the communities that support our agents and offices," said Mark Willis, CEO of Keller Williams Realty, Inc. “With 73,000 associates, we have the numbers to go out into our communities and really make an impact – and there couldn’t be a better time to lend that helping hand."
 
RED Day is dedicated in honor of the company’s Vice Chairman, Mo Anderson, because of her constant commitment to the company’s culture and tireless support of her community. Anderson will be participating in the inaugural annual event in the Keller Williams Oklahoma Region, where she will be visiting the community projects of four Oklahoma City offices. The community projects she will join include work at the Boys Ranch of Edmond, a women's shelter and a home rehab effort.
 
"As real estate agents, we live and breathe our neighborhoods and our communities," said Anderson. “I am thrilled that our agents are taking this opportunity to show the world that the third largest real estate company in the United States is a leader in real estate … and in our community, I can only imagine how this will grow in the coming years."
 
With more than 690 offices across the United States and Canada, RED Day is expected to be the biggest community service event in the real estate industry’s history.  On the company’s Facebook page, many offices have shared their plans for RED Day including: Monroe, Louisiana, where the local office is working with a non-profit to build three houses; Midwest City, Oklahoma, plans to decorate and furnish a newly-built shelter; Houston, Texas-area agents will be working on dune restoration on the beaches of Galveston, to restore damage from Hurricane Ike; Boise, Idaho, will be putting together backpacks and donating them to children in foster care; a Denver, Colorado, office is going to the Redistribution Center Warehouse to help pack and ship new donated items for disabled vets; and, many offices including the Franklin, North Carolina, and Phoenix, Arizona offices are holding food drives and blood drives.
 
“When we heard that this would be a collective effort – it was so exciting to think of the impact that we all will make in one day," said Dona White-Gilbody, real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty in Easton, Massachusetts. “There were so many things we wanted to do that we actually decided to make it a week-long RED Day celebration. We are holding a food drive, cleaning up parks in the area and working on the homes of elderly – not only does this feel great, but it has been a lot of fun for us to plan."
